Chrome has a setting you need to disable to fix the battery issue.

However, I think Chrome is pretty slow, UI wise.
Personally, I think the stock AOSP is the best browser. It's fast and compatible with most sites.
Opera is probably the best and most stable 3rd party browser right now.
Firefox needs a lot of work. I wouldn't recommend that at all. Maybe when it gets to Firefox 25 it will be worth using, but right now, its a mess that is only now getting better.
Dolphin is nice but you have to wait for the Dolphin Engine to get stable before it can possibly overtake Opera as the best browser.
All of the other browsers don't even have their own engine so there's no point in using them over the stock browser.
