I've decided to upgrade from my iPhone 2G, to the 3GS.

Is there an advantage to buying the iPhone from any particular outlet? That is, are there any discounts or freebies, etc. if I buy from the Apple Store vs. Best Buy vs. Amazon vs. Somewhere Else?

I am a Reward Zone member, so I would get points from Best Buy if I buy there.

Anything other ideas?

reward zone is really the only benefit i can think of.....

regardless of where you get it, you take it to apple to get it serviced..... so if BB has them in stock... take advantage of RZ points!

I don't know if the offer is still good but I purchased my 3GS through www.bing.com
My phone was eligible for an upgrade so my new $200. 3GS upgrade only ended up costing me $130. with the $70 rebate... :D

1+ Bing

Bing has 13% rebate though Ebay on Buy It now. Bing is Microsoft program it's a little tricky to use and it take up to 60-90 days to get the rebate can's remember but on $700 it could save OP about $100 if you are quick trick for Bing go there register search (your goal to get to ebay) once there you can search what ever you want you have to use Buy it now and it will give a after rebate price example Buy it now price $725 after cashback rebate $94.25 :D and think of the joy you get after getting $100 back from Microsoft on a Apple product. ;)

Recent changes in the rewards program at Best Buy made it much less interesting to me, but if you spend money there regularly, it sounds like a an easy choice to me. Otherwise, go where ever it's most convenient. My first iPhone came from and Apple store because it was closest. My current 3G came from an AT&T outlet. Didn't matter. And as another poster said, your service for malfunctions will come only from Apple, no matter where you get it.
