Hey everyone,

My sister is looking to purchase a printer under 300 bucks, strictly for printing out color pictures and little graphics for her classroom. We will never need to print out pics from digital cameras so we don't need any photo-docks and all that.

I'm not too good at picking out printers.

We don't need an All-in-One either..

Thanks for the help

If you need just a standard printer, than the canon Pixima series are stellar. not archival quality inks, but still very nice and great B&W output for the money. As a backup, i have an ip4000 that ive had for over a year, and it works great still. If wide format is what you are looking for (printing 13x19, etc) then i would recommend the i9900 from canon (which if you have time, is slated to be replaced very very soon) or the new r1800 from epson, which is, in my opinion the gold standard for under 500.00. The r1800 replaces the 2200 which for probably 5 years was THE photographers printer to have (without spending 4 grand for a huge hugeeee printer) Which leads me to my next point, if you do not have enough for an 1800, pick up a good used 2200. At some point, when printing photos, you WILL regret not having that wide format printer if you stick with the standard size!

good luck!

Thanks for the help..

Well last night, I came home from work and found a brand new printer sitting next to my mac. My sister really needed one BADLY.

It's a HP Color Laserjet 2600n, the print quality is pretty nice, I wonder if she made the best decision.

ya a laserjet isnt going to have NEAR the print quality, plus you are limited to laserjet printers. No glossy photos, nada. I might suggest buying a small inkjet photo printer in addition maybe...or return the one she got?
