99% of all my photos I now take are digital, and stay digital... but for that rare instance (insurance claim, court evidence, etc) that I would want a printed photo, is there a printer that makes exceptionally nice prints of iPhone photos? Years ago I was amazed how nice photos would come out when I put photo paper into an inkjet printer ... I'm hoping there's a similar option for color laser printers, if I don't need it to be photo-album perfect, just accurate and serve the purpose with as much detail as possible...

Any suggestions? Printer, paper, whatever worked for you. Thanks in advance!

Generally, inkjet printers do much better for photos than color laser printers. Besides, the consumables for color lasers are very expensive.

Any inkjet will produce a good print. If I were to buy one, I would get a printer with refillable ink tanks - more economical than buying ink cartridges.

Depends how quick you need the pics. I had a photo quality inkjet for years and superb results but as use declined, cost in keeping it running vs use increased no end. Went to online printing in the end, usually back in a few days and costs a heck of a lot less in the long run for a small number of pics a year.

Edit. Sorry, didn't twig with court evidence etc. Not sure how that would sit with an online service. Might be a bit no no.

If it’s just occasional then there’s not much point owning a printer.

Just send the photos you want printing to a shop for printing.

I used an inkjet printer for a while, which did a great job, but the cartridges ran out quickly and were expensive to replace. A couple years ago, I got a decade-old HP color laser printer for free that my company was replacing with a newer model. It's great for text and graphics but not for photos. Since I don't print photos often, now I upload the JPEGs to the website of a drugstore down the street and pick up the prints the same day. It's cheap and convenient.
