Best Ram for Macbook?

Hi i live in australia and i was going to get a refurbished white macbook 2.16 C2d for $1519 Australian.

Since it only comes with 1g of ram, i plan to upgrade in the future. I plan to get 2x1g modules shipped to Australia from OWC. Has anyone had experience with their international sales?

Anyway, OWC offer 3 different prices for what seems to me to be the same item, just different manufacturers. They are:

Original

Micron - Factory Origional (what does factory origional mean?) 2.0GB Upgrade Kit $94.99US

Techworks 2.0GB Upgrade Kit $85.97US

Also OWC offers many shipping options at different prices is there a better, more reliable one?

Simply put, all 100% compatible RAM for the intel Macs will perform exactly the same. So if the vendor guarantees compatibility, and the RAM has a lifetime warranty, then you can choose between any of the brands.

Keep in mind that as small percentage of RAM fails out of the box, and in AU you are going to have to foot the shipping bill both ways.

Also, make sure that you know the customs clearing procedure and brokerage costs for the different methods of shipping, before you order. Brokerage can become a significant cost. In Canada, the cheapest way is by the mails, and the most expensive is by UPS. But with postal mail, you have less ability to track the package, and it may not be insurable, so you take on additional risk.

Thanks, would you recomend instead just buying it for a higher price here with the guarentee of being able to return it and get replaced or money back?

That's entirely up to your budget and tolerance for risk.

Even from the best vendors you are looking at approximately 1% DOA and 1% early failure, so with two modules, you have about a 1:50 chance of the RAM failing on arrival, and another 1:50 of it failing within the next year.
