Any recommendations?

I'd like to remote into my mac without any additional software. I use the Apple Remote Desktop app so far from my MacBook to login to my desktop and it's simple. Address user/pass and that's it.

Is there anything similar for iOS without anything else I have to install on my mac

Thanks!

I use Splashtop Streamer. It is pretty simple, though you do have to install something on any computer you want to connect to. This runs in the background and once installed you never know it is there. The other requirement is a gmail account. I use this to connect into various PC's and Mac's from my iPad and iPhone when needed. Works very well.

Why are you so against having to install anything on a computer? It is a simple and one time thing and gives you more options.

I used to use iCloud for that, as long as your Mac was using the same iCloud account could connect anywhere (at least from another Mac). Was great.

I have so many apps that startup that I'm trying to reduce in the background.
Remote access is something I'll use rarely so I need some sort of basic remote access app I guess.

I remember 'Back to My Mac'! Good days

I think the only thing would be something from Apple like back to my mac, and yes those were good times when Apple did things that made sense and were functional and added features to help the end user! FYI I just checked to see what Splashtop is using on my system as it sits idle. It is using 0% CPU and about 21mb of memory. Splashtop is only for connecting to another computer from a mobile device like the iPad or iPhone, it does not work computer to computer.

Splashtop all the way. I've been using it on my iPhones, and iPads for years and it's a must-have app for me.

Screens doesn’t require an app on the Mac; but adding one allows access to it from outside the local network.
