Hi all,

I have a new iPad Pro 12.9 2018. I’m a software developer and researcher. It fits perfectly for all my needs, except for coding. I’m really used to PyCharm and Jetbrains IDEs. I could try Coda on iPad with Working Copy but it seems more complicated than just having a remote desktop to my Mac for the occasions when I need to code on the go (in the train, for example).

I hesitate between Screens (which is a Montreal developed apps, where I live !) and Jump Desktop. These two seems the highest ranked on the App Store.

I was wondering if anyone here had tested both and could help me chose between the two apps. I tried Parallels Access (which I have with my Parallels Desktop Pro subscription) and Teamviewer, but scaling was poor, resolution was blurry, not confortable to work with. Screens and Jump seems higher quality softwares.

Thanks a lot !

I have tried virtually everything (not Screen, which is a less known and paid app) and I can say Jump is clearly the best. They all have their strenghs and weaknesses, that’s why I use more than one, some are great are framerates (for remote video watching), some are great at latency (for remotely writing without latency), some have audio, others don’t, some are completely free, some are free with limitations (eg. limited number of devices), some are cheap and some overpriced... Jump is the best for productivity and the only one (or one of the very few) you can use a full mouse remotely (like the citrix X1)

I have both. Jump is the best for RDP protocol with windows machines. Screens is the best bit remote macs. Regards.

I've tried LogMeIn, Parallels, Jump, Slashtop and in the end Jump is the winner for me. It's very stable.

Another vote for Jump Desktop. Works great connecting iPad/MBP to Windows 10 and Windows Server.
