Hey Guys,

I know the ATV3 doesnt have a jailbreak yet but I'm assuming will soon? I want to jailbreak to install Plex.

To prepare, I wanted to know what were some good routers to stream content to the ATV3? I have an old ass Linksys G router and looking to upgrade to a N router.

Is Gigbit or Dual-band enhance streaming capability for the appletv? I dont plan on using a wired connection on my ATV3 but i do plan on adding a NAS via ethernet or an external HDD via USB.

I plan on ripping my blu-ray collection and putting it on a NAS or external drive so i can stream to my appletv. I don't want to deal with connection buffering.

My other devices include; PS3, Macbook Pro, Dell Studio 1555, iPhone 4s, iPad 2

Any recommendations? I was looking at the D-Link DIR-655 Extreme-N Gigabit Wireless Router or the NETGEAR N600 Wireless-N Dual Band Router WNDR3400

The Netgear 3400 doesnt have DNLA media streaming...is that a deal breaker?

Another vote for the AEBS.
The time capsule (if you need the backup drive) or airport express (if your house is not very big) may be a good choice also.

The Airport Extreme has really worked well for me.

It's certainly not the cheapest router out there, but it's been very reliable and I haven't had to worry about it since installing it about 6 months ago.

Our old d-link router was always locking up or needed to be restarted.

I use a D-Link DIR-655 Extreme-N Gigabit Router and it works great with my Apple TV.

I wouldn't buy a router without gigabit ethernet ports. The Netgear doesn't have gigabit ethernet.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Netgear 3700 which has gigabit and dual band. it also has usb storage with DNLA.

Only 84 bucks on amazon.

So does the linksys. I have the e4200 and it works great from one of a big hiyse to the other .

I have an ATV3 and an ATV2 networked into a Cisco SG 200-08, 8-Port Gigabit Smart Switch, and then to a 2nd Generation AEBS to my Motorola Surfboard DOCSIS 3 modem and they all work great.

I never have any issues with streaming or buffering. You'll certainly want to get a gigabit router/switch and have a decent Internet connection speed.

Both my ATV's are hardwired with Ethernet, but I did have the ATV2 on WiFi for a while and it worked fine that way too.
