Looking for a new running app 5(5k program)that runs on the phone but shows status of current workout on Apple Watch while using it. I have seen too many app reviews that people complain that developers are separatimg their apps so that the iPhone and watch version don’t communicate with each other. I realize some people don’t want to take their phone but I want to so I can listen to sirius on my phone.

Looking to get some good user feedback of what people think are the best 5k trainer programs that work well without app crashes or any other issues. Preferably one time purchase apps rather than the subscription models.

Nike Run Club is probably one of the best, and it's free.
Or for specific 5K training, there's Watchto5K

I have tried Nike Run Club(among a lot of different apps) and was very sporadically having crashing issues either on the watch or the iphone app. Just didn't seem to run very well.

I did find one I hadn't found before. It is called None to Run:Start Running that leads you from not running at all to running 25minutes straight over 12 weeks, then you can advance to running a 5k faster with different type strength and running workouts to do a race 5k, and then also a 10k. It seems to be a slower build of stamina vs a flat 8 weeks like most programs which I think is great b/c I usually get to about Wk 5-6 on others and get stuck and frustrated b/c difficulty.

Iphone app connects to apple watch app and gives you great haptic feedback and notifications when workout segment is about to change. Great stats during the workout as well on watch/phone app. I did have an initial issue getting the watch app to connect to iphone app for workout, but contacted developer(within an hour) who promptly gave me some steps to try to get it working. Just needed my phone rebooted and it worked great after that.

They have a monthly subscription and an annual subscription. I plan on signing up for the annual subscription. I would recommend checking it out on the app store. Developer seems to know what runners would want on an app without all the other junk. I look forward to running my next workout using this app.

I have that app and like it a lot. it doesn’t have a training plan that I desired. None to run does a good job allowing a customize interval option as well.

Favorite thing I like about WorkOutDoors is creating a route on EasyRoute and then importing into the work outdoors app
