It's now time for me to clear out the Rio Olympics from my DirecTV DVR to make room for Westworld. My plan is to use my Slingbox to view the video on my late 2013 MacPro and then capture it with a screen capture utility.

I tried the Toast 15 live stream capture but it keeps crashing. I searched the App store and there are like 182 of them. MacWorld has a 4* review for Capto 4 months ago:

So thought I would check to see if others have recommendations. I guess to get the maximum resolution I need to run slingbox in full screen mode, and then somehow start and stop the capture program. Ideally I'd run sling box on a separate desktop full screen and capture the slingbox video window from there so I could continue working.

The most common one I see in enterprise is Snagit.

I use it everyday, many times a day. It seems to get the job done and I can't remember any crashes. ( I run sierra and the public betas.)

FWIW I am not sure WestWorld is worth all the trouble. I want to like it but so far the storyline is a mashed-up mess.

VLC has a capture ability.

Go to: File > Open Capture Device > Input Devices > Screen

I have no idea how this compares to others.
