Ive been looking around and cant seem to find what im looking for. I just got a FIRST GEN 8g iphone from apple. I want to hack the **** out of it as well.

What phone service company should i run it on?
- I have heard of T-MOBILE and AT&T being the two best.

What SPECIFIC plans or services do I need for each of these companies and a rough estimate of the price?
- T-Zones, WI-FI, EDGE, etc..
- Im thinking around $50 or so a month.

Tmo and ATT are pretty much your only choices (major ones anyway)
Tzones is only 6 a month so with a 40/mth plan you're looking at 46 + tax a month, definitely cheaper than ATT

Ok thanks a lot. so, does T-Zones include internet? would the iphone get wireless internet just as it does with the regular plan?

heres a link. My Faves 300 seems like a good plan but i dont know if it comes with T Zones. It does come with T mobile Web though. How does that sound?

heres the link

I really just need a set of steps to follow.

Do i go to t-mobile or At&t? i need to know which one will work better with my 1st gen 8g phone.

i buy a plan and get a free phone with it as well as a sim card.

then i dont know what to do.

is it possible to just unlock the phone without jailbreaking it?

i dont understand where the sim car comes into play here.

if there is already a thread with everything i need to know that would be great! i havent found it yet so im unsure if there is one.

T-Mobile, in my opinion and experience, is a WAY better company.

If you have a 1st generation, sign up with T-Mobile MyFaves 300 (if that is enough minutes for you). You get to setup 5 phone #'s that you can call anytime, anywhere UNLIMITED, and you can change those 5 unlimited phone #'s every month.

There are two different types of internet with T-Mobile:

1. TZones: Which generally is internet access on the phone but many of the ports are blocked and when I used it on my iPhone it was SOOOOOOO slow. This option is really not meant to be used if you want full internet. Some people on this site have had no problems while others, like me, have had problems and/or very slow experiences.

2. Total Internet: That's the actual name of it for T-Mobile. Its $20/month and it includes their Hotspot access as well. If you don't know what that is, go to www.t-mobile.com/hotspot This is the full blown faster internet without any limitations.

If you go with the 300 myfaves and the total internet you'll be at $60/month; however, the $10 extra a month will give you a better experience and more features (hotspots).

I hope that answered your question
