Hi guys,

in a couple of weeks i'm going to upgrade my setup.

Option 1 : 3.8 GHZ retina 5K 27 inch Imac 32GB ram 1TB fusion

option 2 : 2016 macbook pro touchbar 2.9GHZ 8GB ram 512 SSD with LG 38 inch curved monitor

what would be the best option?

In terms of performance, Option 1 is the clear winner, at least for me. Fusion not as good as pure SSD, but I think the other processing resources overcome this, I think. But not very portable.

I forgot to mention, I would use an external 512 SSD with thunderbolt to store the pictures , just too bad they don't make the imacs bigger than 27 inch :D

I'd go with the iMac, though I would (did) go with a pure SSD internal and a significantly larger external.

My current setup at work is a 27" iMac, second monitor (currently an older Cinema Display) with 32g RAM, a 1Tb SSD internal (apps, temp, and occasionally a work file), and some 13Tb total external HD for storage plus another 5Tb external for TimeMachine.
