Hey all,

I'm about to buy my first ipad, wifi only. I intend to use it at home only. I was wondering what kind of case I'd need, and I think I only need a case for the time I travel from one place to an other. I'd like to put my ipad in my computer bag, in a protected sleeve.

What are the best products for that ? I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something that will protect my ipad during commute.

Also, do you guys feel like a stand is needed with that kind of product ? Do you use a dock or smart cover often ? Not sure I need something to hold the ipad in that kind of position.

I use the incase neoprene sleeve, just a basic sleeve.

Do you use the stand quite often in your everyday use ? I'm wondering whether I need a simple sleeve, or a case with a stand option.

What do you think about that product, I think it's quite good looking :

Aslo, what are the reviews of the smart cover ? Does the magnetic things scrath the ipad over time ? Does it make a good stand ? Is it convenient in your every day use ?

I use the smart cover functionality occasionally. I have no experience with that particular case, but it does seem good. I haven't received any scratches from the smart cover in the time I had it.

I'm wondering whether I could just buy a plastic smart cover, then slide the ipad with its smart cover in the same sleeve as my 13-inch aluminium MacBook. I'd place the smartcover on the ipad screen, that side next to the MacBook, then both of the min my 13-inch neoprene sleeve.

Would that work, make sense, and feel like an efficient solution at a limited cost ? What do you think ?

I use this incase nylon sleeve for my 13" MacBook, the pouch is large enough to fit an iPad with no issues.if you don't have a sleeve for our MacBook alread, this maybe a possible solution.

I already have a nice neoprene sleeve for my 13-inch MacBook, and it seems like there's enough space to carry an ipad in it with no problem. They'd be tight which is good so that the ipad won't move within the sleeve while in the computer bag.

However, I just want to make sure of one thing : if I put the smart cover on the screen, will there still be any mettalic / aluminium part on that side which could scratch the MacBook if I put the ipad smart cover side on top of the MacBook in that sleeve ?

Thanks :)

You should be fine, but as a precaution I would face the hinge portion of the smart cover toward the bottom of the sleeve.

Why not put clear skins on both

I have the Timbuk2 Plush Sleeve. It really light and soft. I couldn't decide on what to get (folio or smartcover w/back) so for now I carry it inside my Timbuk2 plush sleeve. It feels like one of those memory pillows. Often I'm caught squeezing it for fun. I get lots of complements on it. Some days I will travel with it inside my messenger bag and some days I will will just carry my iPad with the sleeve.

I know the Timbuk2 line well. Its very durable. I don't like some cases that have zippers because it can scratch your gadget. This sleeve has enough room to fit an iPad with front and back cover.

I prefer genuine leather sleeve cases. I have the Targus Hughes leather portfolio and the targus z-case. Both Cases are made for the ipad 1 but work great with my new ipad 3.Gen. (Smartcover on).

Just my few thoughts

I've also used the STM iPad Jacket, for 3 ipad seasons now. perfect size for my needs. it's more than a simple sleeve tho, but very functional and small.

Is an SF-bag my only hope for:

1. Quality Protection
2. ...and having a spot for my apple keyboard (housed in my origami case)

I've been using Targus leather Z-case as a "sleeve" for my iPad3 with the Logitech Ultrathin keyboard cover. It looks very professional while also providing ample of protection.
