Best software/method to convert video from video CD (VCD) for Apple TV?

I've got a few old VCD's and wondered what the best software was to convert these for the Apple TV? I use Handbrake +/- Mac The Ripper for DVD, and I have Quicktime Pro, but it doesn't seem as simple as it should for video CD's...

I'd use ffmpegx, or, for a more user-friendly app, MPEG Streamclip. Both will let you transcode to a wide-range of formats and codecs, including h.264 for the AppleTV.
