just wondering what is the best software to remove lyrics from songs..i have recently bought cubase SX. wondering if theres an easier application to remove lyrics from a song so u just keep the beat or other bits.

I have wanted to remove lyrics from songs for awhile now. What app is go for this Mac or PC? I heard that the beat doesn't have the punch of the original.

IM unsure heard that soundtrack can let you do it , thats for mac, but i got cubase sx which cost a bomb, and is also for pc too, but looks complicated, im not a fan of manuals. :)

This cannot be successfully achieved without the original multi-track recordings, there was a machine that used a phase reverse matrix to "remove" the vocals, but it also removed chunks of the backing track, and generally sounded awful.

You can't do it with a stereo track.

Anything that does partially remove vocals usually uses some kind of phase reversal as mentioned above. This will basically make the other backing instruments and rhythm sound completely different and probably pretty horrible. It will still be the same song, but it will sound much worse.

If you want to try it out, this sometimes works. Invert the phase of either the left or right channel, it won't totally remove vocals, but it sometimes makes them soft enough to not notice, although it will affect all other instruments in the same frequency range.

I've tried the vocal remover plugin for WinAmp, and it never worked properly for me. Sometimes it gets the words out and sometimes it doesn't, but it also garbles the rest of the track more often than not.

i think there's a plug-in for Sound Forge (PC) that lets you suppress the vocal, or completely remove them.

i haven't used it but i've seen it done. you can keep pretty much the original backing instruments, and it just lowers the volume on the vocals. it sounds okay.

I should spend more time using these programs.
