I have used:
Adobe's Classroon in a book series (PS, Illustrator, and Indesign)
How to cheat in Photoshop (this is a good book to learn good techniques) Real-world Photoshop CS2
Deke's Adobe PS CS2 one-on-one
Photoshop Restoration & Retouching (this is a good solid book)
Photoshop Masking & Compositing
Adobe Photoshop CS2 for the Web H-O-T (I used H-O-T series for Dreamweaver, Flash, and Actionscript)
I am almost done with the last one (CS2 for the Web H-O-T) and am going to start "Adobe Phhotoshop CS2 for Photographers by Martin Evening."
All of the above books come with some practice files to try out what you are learning as you go through the chapters.
I tried to read PS Gone Wild book; but, it was a little difficult to follow the steps as the author does not spell out the steps clearly.
