best USB adaptor for hard drives

i have an older WD passport hard drive that i want to move music files off of and into iTunes on an iPad.

what's the best USB adaptor for me to purchase?

I believe Apple’s adaptor would be best, but are you aware of this working with other drives?
Not sure it does.
Is your drive bus powered?

You’ll have more luck with the USB 3 version I think.

This will not work for that.

Nothing that can get it into the native Music app that I’m aware of.
