When at home I have access to 3G and my wireless network. Which approach is best on conserving battery life?

In my experience with other 3G devices, nothing drains battery faster than surfing or streaming over wifi. But others claim to have data suggesting that 3G drains battery more quickly than wifi on iPhone. And if you live in an area where 3G is weak, you may lose battery life even more quickly because your phone has to work harder to hold onto the signal.

I agree: Wi Fi drains the battery faster than the 3G navigation. Forgot where I read that though: I'll try to post a link.

How is that though? Isn't wifi faster than 3G? That means the iphone has to work because the page loads in about 5-10 seconds.
