best way of linking to other websites...

i have been looking for some websites who can link to our websites..

anybody here who knows whats the best way to get linked to other websites?

Best thing is probably to leave worthwhile comments on related sites and/or email the author asking them to have a look at your site.

Just be careful you don't start start going into spam territory.
 
thanks for the idea. i've tried emailing website authors, but seems like they are not responding.. or maybe they got my mails through their bulk that's why they are not responding...

any other ideas?
 
To be honest not many site authors are going to respond to emails simply asking for links to your site. It just comes across as spammy, especially if you can't justify why.

Why would an owner of a site what to link to your business?
 
yeah, you got a point...

what we usually do is we have an exchange links for them too...
that's the compromise we mostly offer them.

what else could you suggest?
 
My advice is this, set up a blog section to your website. Write on photoshop techniques, give away free hints and tips, become involved in community discussions. Do all you can to become a respected voice and write interesting content. Do this and people will want to visit and link back to your site.

It's not an easy task and will require a lot of work but in the long run will be a lot more rewarding than emailing random people and asking for linkbacks.
 
Maybe I can be of some service to this topic... I don't mean to sound arrogant but I brought a little forum up through linking and SEO to be the official Nickelback Forum and now have the ultimate link, directly from www.nickelback.com

Anyways, when you're starting out and your site isn't too big yet, you have to consider that. You'll probably have to do a few link exchanges. Try exchanging with people who have 1 or 2 higher PR than you, however, and make sure the words they link with are the ones you want to show up on the search engines for. Links really aren't going to bring your biggest amount of people in, search engines are. Really read up on SEO, especially as pertains to links and linkweight. Once you understand that stuff and your site is big enough where people know about it people will start linking to your site without you even asking. Like Nickelback's drummer did for me. (www.daniel-adair.com) I'm also linked on countless blogs, which, I'm not so sure how great that is anymore, but when you have faithful users/readers/whatevers your popularity will rarely fade.
 
hmmm...

setting up a blog... good idea... another thing is the forum.. but inviting users to join and participate would be another problem..

haha well maybe if you worded them better than "Dear Webmaster, I very much like your site, I would very much like to exchange links in return for your site, Of course I would link back to yours very much"


actually that's wrong too, usually they are in all caps :p
 
Depends on what type of links you want, and what site it is. I am a member of linkshare.com and they give you an opportunity to ask venders to be your affiliates and create links (and commission). They check your website out first, and then OK you or not. Pretty painless, and can make you a lot of money depending on your content.
 
No friends eh? Go to www.superlinks.com and have a look. You have to sign up (so you may want to think about it first). You can then navigate to a directory and exchange links with anyone listed there - obviously you need to choose like-minded websites.
(I have no connection with this site, and have not used it for publicising my own website. I'm always a bit doubtful about signing up for anything these days as I am so sick of spam.) Caveat emptor.
