I'm a summer intern at a computer tech. company, and they've just given me the job of redesigning one of thier clients brochures. Now, here's a shot of the before:

Imo..it's pretty "ehh". They told me I can pretty much take the look anyway I want.

This company does background checks on people, I guess for hiring purposes.

My office uses windows computers at the office, but I can work on it at home on my Mac :D

In your guy's opinoins, what's the best program for making brochures?

I do something similar also. I do all my print work at home on my Mac because I only have a PC at work.

I had to find a cost effective solution to graphic printing because I could not afford the high-end programs.

I found Swift Publisher to be great. I have designed everything from monthly newsletters, flyers, and brochures with it. It has great reviews and it's less than $40.

Quark is an industry standard, though it's probably feeling the heat from InDesign by now. Either of those would be suitable, inasmuch as they're dedicated layout applications.

You're a student, right? You can get the educational discount for AdobeCS2...would save you big bucks...

I believe CDW and MacMall both offer educational discounts, though I know for sure that eFollet.com definitely does. I believe you would need some form of student ID or record of enrollment to qualify for the discount. But you could prolly just call them and ask what kind of proof they need.

I've downloaded the trial of Indesign.

Are there templates for starting a brochure?

http://www.tipsprinting.com/

A quick Google search yielded this website, which offers some free InDesign templates. I don't know if it includes a brochure template, though if it were me I'd prolly just measure the scale/margins of an existing brochure and make a template out of that. But whatever's easiest for you...

ok im working in indesign, the brochure is coming along.

im making a graphic, and i need a part of it to flip so i can mirror it on the other side.

I've gone through help and it says to "transform" then click "flip 180".

I can't find this, it won't work.

any help?

it's in the Transform palette...you have to click that little arrow on the upper right corner of the palette to get to it...

I have an account at www.academicsuperstore.com for all my programs. Great shipping times and very nice CS (which is why I started going with them).
Good luck :)
