Hey everybody, I am trying to find the best way to get in contact with apple via email. Basically, they want me to send my Rev. A Macbook in for a 4th repair in just over a year. This computer has had a long list of hardware problems and repairs with the most recent being two weeks ago for a bad ram module. (actually that one is a long story because that is the second time that module needed replacing...a day earlier a genius replaced a "bad stick" with one that was even worse...and it went bad within 8 hours.) This time, the macbook went to sleep randomly while using safari. This forced me to do a hard power down. Now, whenever I try and turn it on, I get a superdrive noise and a sleep light. Nothing else. The Applecare rep told me it was a hardware issue and now wants me to send it in agian for a "special repair" where the tech will run extra steps and call me to make sure the issue is resolved. Yeah, thats fine, but thats another 5-7 + days without a computer.

To sum it all up, I am sick of all the repairs on my Rev. A model, and I don't really think it's unreasonable to request a new one, which seems to have far less hardware issues. So, I wrote Apple a letter explaining in detail each repair, and that I am very dissatisfied. Where is the best place to send this? I know apple has a contact link on their site for email, but I have also heard of emails being sent to sjobs@apple.com and getting better results.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Your best bet is to call tech support and ask for a new computer. Your case should be well documented, either by tech support case notes or from apple store repair work. Stay calm, relaxed and plead your case. Do not under any circumstances become angry or have a tone like you are entitled. They should be more then willing to work with you. And there is no hope of getting any results from email. You have to call. Good luck!;)

Thanks everybody...

I would call, but I am on vacation and don't feel like wasting my valuable cell phone minutes, so I just sent the email to sjobs@apple.com. I will update this thread on what happens....wish me luck. :)

Well so far I have gotten no response. I have heard of people getting responses in 4 hours, but so far its been 20. (including the night)

Do you think I ought to wait, or just call them? I have some downtime, and would really like to get this resolved.

You don't really think that an email address of sjobs@apple.com is going to go anywhere that someone is actually going to be reading incoming messages do you?

It got me a replacement Macbook.

In most cases, if it sounds too good to be true, chances are, it is. In this case, that saying couldn't be further from the truth. Emailing Steve produces good results.

You will get a response within 24 hours. Just wait.

Allright, thanks everybody, I guess I will just wait. :)

Steve doesn't check this himself, correct? Hope not, because I addressed the letter to Apple, and not him. :p (yes, I am paranoid)

No he doesn't read them. He has people in executive relations read mail that goes to these addresses.

Still waiting...

24+ hours later and I still haven't gotten a response...

Do you think I might get a response on the weekend, or are they closed?

Sorry to double post in my own thread...but...

I just got a call from Apple Executive Relations this morning, where the rep is going to give me a brand new, Rev. C Macbook! No questions asked, at all, other then how much ram I had so she could make sure that it was made right.

I guess sjobs@apple.com really does get results. :)

I don't like to say I told you so, but...
