Seriously been searching for 2 days, reading stickies, etc. and haven't come up w/ the best solution. (Been out of the game since ziphone's method). Everything seems to be such a mess right now with all the new updates, etc.

What are the steps that should be taken for an unhacked iPhone running the latest and greatest from apple (fw 2.1 and iTunes 8), to become simply network/sim unlocked?

I'm sure many people are hoping for this same answer. Don't need a guide- just the steps that should be taken in order. Can find HOW to do the steps by searching this board. :)

(example: Install iTunes 7.7. Don't need to know how to install iTunes 7.7)

My 2G iPhone had previously been JailBroken and Unlocked using Pwnage.

To get 2.1 I installed iTunes 8 and ran the update. Nothing more. I now have an unlocked iPhone 2G running 2.1 albeit not JailBroken but I can live with that.

Unlock with iTunes 7.7 to 2.0.2 firmware and then upgrade to 2.1 only updating in iTunes? Hmmm...If works correctly, is a very easy thing.:)
