Is there an app that I can use for offline news reading on the iPhone?

I'm often in spots where I can't get a reliable Edge or Wifi connnection and I'd love to have a few news stories to read. I really miss AvantGo, which was a Palm OS app that used a desktop conduit to download news and info from select channels. It would then sync to your Palm device.

Are there any Mac apps that can do this?

Have you tried Byline yet? I'm addicted to Avantgo so I'm holding off getting the iphone until I'm sure I can read offline webpages easily

I used avantgo on my Treo that now sits in a desk drawer. If Avantgo is holding you back, you may reconsider when you see how nicely iPhone renders news sites. Quickly too if you're on 3G or wifi. I think avantgo is not gonna make it with the speed of the internet getting faster and faster.
