iOS Best way to learn?

Hi all,

Ive just got 2 weeks on my hands and nothing planned other than to sit down and try and learn objective C.

Now im a complete beginner, but pick things up fast. So my question is really what is the fastest way to learn it?

Im happy to read about or watch videos etc, but i just wanted to know if there is anyone out there that has done what i want to do and learn it asap?

In the Mac Programming section of this forum, there is a recommended book mentioned in many of the "getting started" threads. I don't recall the title of the book, but I've been meaning to pick it up myself. You should have no trouble finding it there, though.

Try picking up a book. Programming language is truly another language, and without background in programming it's harder than you think to pick it up. Amazon search will find you some good books to read.

1) Learn the difference between the iPhone and the iPhone Programming forums!

2) Buy a good book on Objective-C. I think Cocoa Programming for Mac(R) OS X (2nd Edition) is still the best

3) Read (and ensure you understand) the Objetive-C language guide

4) Make sure you understand the memory management rules. Most beginners get this wrong.

i feel that i should know more about the SDK if im owning a forum dedicated to it

I think i will get the 3rd edition of Cocoa Programming for Mac(R) OS X that you mentioned (if the 3rd is better than the 2nd).

If you want to learn outdated codes, you can try the 2nd edition .

If the third edition is shipping now then get that. I only suggested the second edition as I didn't think the updated one was out yet...
