Best way to lock down my Mac

I am in college right now but am not living in a dorm. For next quarter i will be in the dorm and i am trying to figuer out the best way to lock the computer(s) down so they are at least harder to steal.

For the most part i only need to tie down the iMac because the iBook will be with me nearly all the time.

So what is the best way to tie this thing down.

And for anyone that cares i feel my room assignment sucks. I signed up for a 2 person or three person and got stuck in a 4 person. Now i wish i would have pushed my parents more to move me off campus. It's not that i dont like people it is just that i like my space. Not to mention the spaces that they cram students into is the sive of the bathroom i was use to at my grandmas. Oh well, hears to hopeing all turns out well for my 10 weeks i have to spend in the dorms.

AFAIK you don't have much choice but to employ the Kensingtonish security cable. Or the same, NOtebook style.

I think it would be a very good idea to leave the iMac at home for the first week or two until you have at least some chance to size up your roommates. There's no really good way to completely secure them, although the Kensington solutions are good if you're not worried about a determined thief. I'd also recommend a security solution (Kensington would be fine) for the PB - as much as you say you'll have it with you at all times, you're likely to sleep and to shower, at least occasionally.

A friend in college told me that his roommate just took his stereo and set it up in his room. When confronted, he basically told my friend, "What are you going to do about it?" The guy was much bigger. My friend called the police. The police came and talked to the guy. The guy said that the stereo was his! My friend didn't have any proof of ownership. My friend quickly moved out as soon as he could.

However, one should always have proof of ownership documentation in the form of serial numbers and (if possible) pictures of the items for insurance purposes.

Yeah, i was planning on getting the cables anyway. The computers are already covered under my mom and dads insurence so if anything happens then the insurence will cover it. Not that i want to computers to be stolen but if something happens that will just give me an excuse to sell the one that does not get stolen and get a merom MBP.

While I assume it's obvious, such pictures and documentation should be safely kept elsewhere.
