I have an old iPhone I would like to use as a glorified MP3 player. Basically, load it with the best hits from my iTunes/Music library for travel, let it play soundscapes for the kids at night as a white noise machine, etc. The problem is it keeps trying to sync up with my new iPhone, and what fits on 64GB does not fit on an old 8GB original SE. I'm tired of waking up to see 'out of storage' messages.

Is there a one click setting I'm missing, or should I create a new Apple ID for the old phone? Is it possible to use one Mac login to administrator/curate the music loaded on two different iPhones with different IDs?

From my understanding of your question, I think two separate Apple IDs is the solution...that's what I would do.

The only problem with that is you have to have the same Apple ID for iTunes which is what's causing the problem of trying to synch.

@padams35 Do you still have cellular activated on the old iPhone? If not and you have an old sim, try switching out to see if that will eliminate the synch problem. Just guessing here...
