Best way to mass upload photos to icloud?

What's the best way to upload archived photos onto icloud? I'd like to do this because I tend to look back at photos from time to time and it's easier to access them on my iPhone than say going into my NAS.

Import them into Photos by dragging. They will automatically sync to iCloud, assuming you have that setting turned on. Then they will be viewable on all of your devices.

Thanks everyone! Will take a look. The thing was that once I uploaded the photo, it wouldn't set it correctly in my timeline even if the metadata was right.
