Hello all,

I recently used an online "app-building" platform to basically just plan what I want my app to look like. I'm not going to purchase it, they want an absurd amount of money. However, I now have a perfect idea of what I want it to look like. I'm looking for the easiest way to move forward with my plans.

My App:

Basically there will be a fixed menu bar at the top of my app screen with 4 buttons that will open pages.

The first page provides different sections of text that I have written. Lots of information, kind of like an ebook.
The second page is an RSS reader.
The third page is actually just a button that opens up the Mail app so users can email me.
The fourth page is a built in web browser so users can view my website.

Really nothing complicated, but I'm not advanced in Xcode. I have spent the past couple weeks following tutorials and such, however, I'm a beginner at best.

Are there any premade Xcode templates I could benefit from using? How do I use said templates? Am I headed in the right direction?

I appreciate any and all help!!

- Jon

The premade Xcode templates are simply projects. There's all kinds of them out there including from Apple.

If you open Xcode, under the documentation, you'll find links to projects that you can download and run.

Many sites offer the project that you can download and run. Some are for other versions so not all will run without changes, but there's plenty out there.

Many also post on YouTube and have links to the code, I would look at how old the projects are, as things change quickly. Something a few years old probably needs to be changed.

I tried searching on Youtube, but I'm not finding any relevant results. Do you have any keywords you would recommend?

Also, any good xcode template sites you would recommend ?

Thanks!

Apple has an RSS reader app template as well as a web page viewer. I haven't seen an email one, but that shouldn't be too hard to find with a google search.

It's doubtful that you'll find one template that'll meet all your needs.

Have you considered hiring this out thru something like 99designs or elance?

There's also place to buy apps with code, a google search would show several.

You might find some good starting points here http://code4app.net/category/0/1

What you're thinking of building isn't overly complex but nevertheless may seem daunting as a beginner.

My recommendation would be to search for something that offers a custom UIToobar or Tabbar and then pin it to the top of the screen inside of the bottom.
