Hi,

My boss wants to have someone from a different state be able to log onto our server shares in order to part time worker (backup in case of trouble).

The server is currently running 10.4.11 Server. I haven't set up FTP before, but I've found that if you use the "Connect to Server" with the FTP://xxx.xxx.xxx:21 command, you only get Read Only access to the shares... I haven't experimented with Fetch yet... but was wondering if what is the best way for her to remote in.

Is there a way to get the user to have full RW access to the share?

The user will only need to move files back and forth from the server share to her computer... not do anything else (i.e. run apps, change settings, etc). I was thinking that just opening the share would be the easiest/cheapest way for her to work. I'd rather not spend the $$ for another copy of ARD.

Thanks

I wouldn't recommend FTP, as it is insecure. I'd setup SSH, and have the remote worker use sftp or scp to move files back and forth. This will encrypt the credentials and the data. Use only SSH v2.

The remote worker can use CyberDuck. It does FTP, FTPS, SFTP, WebDAV, WebDAV/SSL, iDisk, S3, and maybe more since I don't have the latest version.

Hey Chown33... I stumbled across CyberDuck right after belvdr recommended sftp or scp (googled it and found CD). I downloaded it and played around for about an hour and WOW. Impressive program. I'm recommending it to my boss.

Cheers and thanks!!
