Best Way to Share Music between laptops... bluetooth?

my friends and i have macbook or macbookpro laptops. we would like to be able to exchange music between one another. i think doug has an apple script that can take it off of a shared playlist, but i dont know how fast that would be. last time we connected to each others computers through the "personal file sharing" feature and that was ridiculously slow. maybe bluetooth is faster, so you dont have to use a network.

hmm, bluetooth has pretty slow data transfer speeds, i mean its not intended for anything more than low quality voice and data signals. If you have anything like lossless audio, that will take FOREVER to transfer with bluetooth.

I remember my friend did this thing to my laptop once where he pluged a firewire 800 cable into my powerbook from his G5 tower and he transfered all of his music over. MY screen turned black and just had an image of a firewire imput on it and he had control over my computer as he transfered the files.
It took about 20 minutes to set up and transfer about 28 gigs of music files, im not sure how he did it though.

The fastest way to share is to get a Firewire cable and connect it between the two. The restart on of the computers holding down the "T" key. The computer you restarted will then mount on the other computer as if it was an external hard drive. You can then drag data across at very high speeds.

To do that just start your mac up and hold down "T" on the keyboard, and it boots the computer as a firewire hard drive...

when T is held now and other computer is seen an another hard drive...are you dragging/sending a copy or the original?

another option

Is to create a computer to computer network connection (go to your airport thing on top of screen, select create new network and give it a name and encryption). The other person then logs onto the network you have selected (just as they would log onto a hotspot or any wifi network). You have now created a network between the computers. So if you go to networks, the other system shows up and you can access it and transfer whatever you want.
