my mac pro with the ati 1900xt finally arrived. I bought the 1900 mainly for windows stuff, but I'd really love to show it off to my friends in mac os.

So, any ideas of 3d game demos, tech demos, smooth lovely things I can try out? :)

I'm new to mac so I'm not sure where to start looking for this stuff. I've tried searching but keep coming up with terrible shareware games.

I tried the Doom3 demo and Quake 4 demo, but they both seemed to run alright with the 7300 (I'm sure your card would spank them).

However Call of Duty 2 gave me some trouble when I set everything to high/extra. There's a lot to customize in that game (even in the demo). Pick it up here: http://www.macgamefiles.com/detail.php?item=19203

I don't know how to get a fps read out, but if you just say it runs smooth as liquid silk at maxed out settings, I'll get the idea. ;)

I just love making a screensaver run on the desktop, but I'm easily amused.

this isn't really a "cool" or "mind-blowing" feature, but my roommate likes to see the application windows stretch and compress when they are minimized to the dock. other features of the OS seem to impress windows users, such as expose and dashboard.

i don't game on my computer, so i can't suggest anything there.

Handbrake benchmark at the following settings:

mp4 file
H.264 encoding, baseline profile
1500kbps average video bit rate
128kbps audio
full resolution

Rip about 5 - 10% of the movie, tell us the average fps score.

For comparison, at those settings my 1.2GHz G4 would average 3 - 5 frames per second. Slloooooowwwww.......

The videocard should have little to no influence on Handbrake performance...
