I bought some old TV shows on DVD and converted them to video many years ago. I've been storing them locally on external drives. But now, my internet is pretty fast and online storage pricing is coming down. Apple charges an arm and a leg for storage and I'm not even sure if it will upload videos from iTunes or whatever they use now.

Suggestings?

I have a MBP and would prefer not to use an external drive.

How do you intend to view them? Plex?

Are you expecting to be able transcode the cloud stored files?

Possibly your “best” bet would be a G-Suite Google Drive (it allows direct mounting and streaming), using encryption.

You still may get hit with random API timeouts though...

What is your intent? You want to clear up space on your external drives or get rid of them? or you want to view the content while mobile?

I currently use Plex, which requires a media service. It is basically like having your own personal Netflix, be able to access your content anywhere you have internet.

I haven't used it yet, but a lot of people like Infuse, which I think can be used with cloud based storage.
