Best way to upgrade Mac Pro Classic

Hey Guys,

I just got an old mac pro classic for a great price and want to know the best way to upgrade it. I have hear you can increase the clock speed and I have even heard of turning the dual core into quad core? The person I had bought it from was using a flashed PC nVidia GTX 285 card as the primary graphics card.

You can start at an external FireWire drive. PPC Mac will not boot from a USB key. You only need to press Option to display other boot partitions at startup.

You must also ensure that your PowerMac G5 has 512 MB of memory or more. More is better! If you insert the 10.5 installer DVD writer, restart and hold the letter C, which is the result? It has 8G of memory, because it is used in science. I will give is try using a FireWire drive.

I don't think OP is talking about a Power Mac G5. You can't flash a GTX 285 to work in a PowerPC.

I'm not entirely sure what model of Mac Pro OP is actually talking about.

I assume you mean the 2006 Mac Pro.

If that is indeed the case you can switch the processors from the dual-core 2.66 Ghz it comes with to quad-cores, if you really need it.

And yes, you can overclock your processors if you study the pins on the spec sheets of the processor to change the Front Side Bus at which the system runs.
