Should I Update or Restore?

I plan on JBing again using Ziphone, and would perhaps like to unlock in the future, but that's not necessary. I also want to remove all the other crap that builds up over time by installing a bunch of apps. Things like that Media SymLink, cache files, etc.

If you want to start clean, do a Restore. If not, then an Upgrade should do. Either way, ZiPhone is a good tool.

Do we know for sure that Restore wipes everything out? In the past Restore left Media folders alone. A good example would be custom carrier images, since they are in Media, surviving Restores. Another quick question, I haven't paid too much attention to the unlocking side, but has any FW updates upgraded the Bootloader (if that's even possible)? Have there been any unlocking issues with the latest firmwares?
