Hi people , I need the community help over here....

I have let pass the time (not that much though) and now I am a bit lost on this topic. I want to upgrade to 3.1.2 w/o changing my baseband and also my iTunes to 9.0.2 but I find myself a bit skeptical and fearful about upgrading.

I am on a 3G, 04.26.08 FW , 3.0.1 Version (7A400) iphone. Jailbreaked with redsnow and unlocked it with Ultrasnow.

I have read in many threads, home pages and so about this but there is too much gibberish.

In iClarified says that I should not use purplerain coz would be able to unlock it. In Devs team to much confused info mixed with many other versions information. I also read before upgrading to the new iTunes I need to look for my .ipws and back them up. mmmmmmhhhhhhhh

So I would like to ask you, forum, whats the way I should go?

*Can I upgrade to 3.1.2 w/o loosing my apps?
*Should I go look up for my previews .ipsw files and if yes what should I do with them? Modified them? How?

I will really appreciate any useful information you guys can provide to me.

Thnaks in advanced!........

Once you upgrade you will lose your apps and will have to reinstall them. No way around that unless you install pkgbackup and have that program install them in batch for you.
You should go with pwnage tool to keep your ultrasnow unlock Id suggest.

Thanks Applejuiced for ur quick reply;

So what u suggest is then upgrade from iTunes to 3.1.2? And then the same steps used before?
What about the .ipws files with itunes 9? Safe to upgrade it also?

Cheers.

You should create or obtain a custom .ipsw file, then use iTunes to restore to it. Be very careful not to upgrade to the official firmware. You then unlock following the same procedure you used before to install ultrasn0w.

iTunes 9.x works fine with PwnageTool. No reason not to upgrade.
