Is anyone having problems with BestBuy or UPS returns?
I returned an iPad Air via UPS 10 days ago and it has 'vanished'. I printed out the UPS return label that was emailed from BestBuy and the package was picked up a few days later. I forgot to write down the shipping number and now Best Buy and UPS are blaming each other for the package going missing. The email link is now broken. Anyone else had this issue?

Man, the way shipping companies are working during the COVID pandemic doesn't surprise me that things get lost during shipment. I always keep a copy of all correspondence and also take pictures of what I'm going to return (though I doubt that really helps). I also insist on a receipt from the shipper for the returned item. I hope things work out in your favor!!!

Does you Best Buy purchase history contain the return tracking information? If BB created the return shipper they should have the tracking info available.

Both UPS and BestBuy and dodging. Not sure why it is so hard to get a simple tracking number...

They like to claim it takes 7-15 days for it to be processed at their BB return center.

I read this,

Use our prepaid return label

You will get free shipping on your return by using our pre-paid label. Log in to your Best Buy account to locate your order. Print a prepaid shipping label. Put the return label on the package and take it to an authorized UPS drop off location and ship it to us during your return period.
So it says you should be able to access a prepaid shipping label in your account history. Also UPS has info related to pick up event for time/date for where it was collected recorded that you might get from them if you give enough information. Supposedly they retain 180 days history in their system.

This is what should happen. In reality, no one seems to have a clue. Not helped by their website being broken.

I'd just go into the store for a return, to be safe. These days with reports of carrier drivers dumping random packages into ravines, who knows where your package might end p.

You are quite right. Never had any issues with Amazon though.

We're lucky - we have multiple drop-off points for Amazon within two miles of our house. We dropped two things off yesterday - one quite large and too big to get back into its box - and had refund notices within a couple of hours. We were inside their building less than two minutes. Walk-in returns at the local Best Buy are also quick and easy.

I returned an Apple Watch to Best Buy in December with no issues and still have all my emails.
  • You should have gotten an email from Best Buy after UPS picked it up, saying it's on the way to them. That email also contains the tracking number. (I'm still able to view the tracking details on UPS's site.) Did you not get that email?
  • Another email is sent when Best Buy receives the shipment.
  • One last email is sent when they process the return and issue a refund.
FWIW, I shipped mine on 12/6, they received it 12/9, and refunded me on 12/20...so a total of 14 days.

As others mentioned, you should be able to track the return status on Best Buy's site in your Purchase History. What does that actually say? Still in shipment? Awaiting pickup? Delivered?

The return label was created by BestBuy and sent to my email address by UPS.

The links to print or get the receipt are all dead now.

1. Get a shipping label

You can print the label, email it to someone else, or generate a label using a barcode on your phone. Select Get Shipping Label to see details.
Note: When retrieving your label, we will provide you with a UPS Returns Label and a Commercial Invoice if the invoice was prepared by the original shipper.

Something stinks here...

I recently refused a package from Best Buy that contained an iPad Air 4 and it went missing. I luckily contacted UPS and they said to talk to Best Buy about filing a claim and they issued me a refund over the phone that same call. I was really worried since I’ve never had any packages go missing, but I had the tracking number handy and it was obvious it never left my city. I don’t know what’s going on, but this might be happening more often than one might think.

it's right there in the get the receipt URL.

You are FANTASTIC! This has been driving me crazy all day. Thank you so much. :)

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having the EXACT same issue except with an icemaker. Customer service keeps insisting the UPS label and tracking number that I generated from my Bestbuy account on their website is for something else. What that is, they do not know. I have written to their executive customer service and provided every piece of documentation there is and they initially said they would push a refund to me ASAP and one month later, I had to follow up with the executive customer support representative who told me there was an inconsistency with the information that I provided and the tracking number was for something else.

It is obvious they do not plan to do anything further for me. I asked if they had checked their warehouse for a white icemaker floating around as I would like to have it back but I am sure that won’t happen. The only thing that I can think of is that it was stolen enroute to their return facility or at the warehouse. I did see several articles where 3 individuals were arrested for stealing electronics from the warehouse, but they were arrested prior to me returning the unit. Other than the BBB and posting online, I do not know what other documentation I can provide them. I have spent countless hours trying to resolve this to try and get approximately $134 back from this large corporation. Any thoughts?

I file a charge back claim with the bank if nothing else happens

Yes it is. I have the UPS information that shows that it was picked up by UPS at CVS and all the stops that it took in order to get to the Frankfurt Kentucky warehouse. That information was downloaded from my UPS account. It is beyond me how they can keep saying that what I returned was something else. Yet when I asked them to tell me what was logged into the warehouse when they received it, I get no response. This is from their executive customer support after I wrote a letter to their CEO. At first, they said they were going to push through the refund and a month later I had to follow up with executive customer service, who changed their story and said the same thing that the one 800 customer service representative said. I literally have provided them with every piece of documentation that I can, and they keep saying that the gift card that the store clerk generated was used to provide me with a warranty replacement so I have been taken care of; however, I told them that the replacement item was the wrong color and I generated the UPS return label within 30 minutes of receiving it, and within one hour of receiving it, return the box that it came in with the UPS label to my local CVS store across the street. one thing I did not get was a printed receipt from CVS or in the email or text. But, UPS did have the tracking number and provided me with information that the box was delivered and received at the Frankfurt Kentucky warehouse. I did see two articles where several people at that warehouse were arrested for stealing at least $150,000 worth of merchandise I’m not saying that’s what happened to my item, but they should be able to tell me what was in the box when they opened it and scanned the UPS label tracking number, attached to the box executive customer service is no longer responding to my emails.

Apologies. I said Frankfurt Kentucky and it’s Shepherdsville Kentucky. I need to weigh my options. All of this was from a warranty replacement. It really is just unbelievable. Thanks to all who ever responded. I appreciate it very much.
