I'm experiencing issues with Beta 8 where my Macbook Pro's (Late 2013) screen goes blank after about 5-10 after starting. The screen goes black, but the computer stays on for about another minute or so (keyboard is still illuminated as well on the apple on the back of the top lid) and then shuts off.

At first this happened twice today after I returned to my computer after not using it for a while, as if it hadn't woken up from being asleep, but in both cases, turning it back on and using it let usage resume.

Any suggestions? (Please let me know if any log files would help.)

I've otherwise been using the betas since #5 and had not had any issuges.

No problem on my Late-2013 15 inch MBP. Working flawlessly on Beta 8.

It actually seems to be a hardware failure independent of Big Sur. I did a Internet Recovery and tried rolling back to Catalina, and then Maverick (that came on the MacBook originally) and I experienced the same issue. It appears to be graphics card related, as it is largely ok if I have it connected to an external monitor with the lid closed UNLESS it goes to sleep, but quickly has the issues if I open the lid with or without the external monitor connected.

Possible. 7 years old laptop... mine heated a lot. The battery is slowly exploding inside it. Used it like crazy with big computations and days/weeks running it at full blown. Don’t know yours but it could be possible. A laptop, 7 years ... quite a good life.

Sounds like its kernel panicking - what does the system log show?

Do you have the 15” with the 750M GT? Could be a failing graphics card - Apple replaced it in my old “15 three times before giving me a 2018 replacement.
