He should have known better. Apple had every right to go after him.
I wonder how much support Apple has to provide to its customers who installed developer beta profiles and called to complain about apps not working or their devices crashing.

I get that,but...it doesn't mean it doesn't waste thousands of hours of support chat and phone calls of people contacting Apple for help. They are going to help you up until the point of them seeing you are running beta, they may even help after that.

Installed WatchOS 7 on my watch. They took it in, downgraded, and returned it. With UPS.

Well, a simple EraseInstall repair is probably easier than hours of troubleshooting on the phone for things like "Why won't X feature work on the beta?" They do those repairs irregardless of production or beta software.
True, it was quite handy, but I was surprised how long it lasted. Before that site, it was a bit random to get a profile for dev betas, where people charged on eBay and that for it, and it was a gamble if it was a scammer or not. It stood out, due to being so polished and easy.
What happens to the people who have the beta profile from that site on their phones?

That $99 is simply a low barrier to entry. It is to stop a billion garbage apps from China/India from being on the app store. The fee is large enough that spam app makers won't shill out $100 everytime their account is banned for junk apps, but low enough that any new developer who wants to start out and publish an app can afford.
