I have an Air 2 running 11.2 Beta 4 and I'm getting a 10.5 iPP. When I set the 10.5 up, if I do a backup restore from the Air 2 to the 10.5, is the beta tester profile carried along?

You won’t be able to restore your Air 2 backup until you install beta 4 on the new iPad. You cannot install a newer iOS backup on an older iOS version.

But to answer your question, yes profiles are restored in the backup. But it’s moot as that backup won’t work until the iPad is updated.

Makes sense. So when I first set up the 10.5 using my Apple ID, I should set it up as new with minimal setup, download a beta profile to it, update to 11.2 Beta 4, and then do a restore from backup?

Yep. Exactly right.
