I just installed the new iPhone OS 4.0 beta on my iPhone (and yes I'm enrolled in the iPhone developer program so it's legal,) and I'm curious where the iBooks application is.

It doesn't seem to have been added to my home screen (although game center was,) nor can I find it on the app store.

Also, I've found a few bugs already (IE, trying to set either the home screen or lock screen image from Camera doesn't work... nor does it work from Photos... it only works from Settings... also, there are many jerky animations.)

+ It's difficult to uncreate a folder... it seems to me that once there's only one item in a folder, the folder should be replaced with the app by itself. You can't create a folder until you put two apps together... it seems common sense to me that once you take one of them out the folder should go away.

+ If you have a notification inside a folder, the badge on the folder is an irritating "!"...

You're supposed to set the wallpaper from the settings menu. That's how Steve Jobs showed it in the preview.

The notification badge is supposed to do that. Otherwise, how else are you supposed to know an app in a folder has a new notification?

iBooks, like on the iPad, isn't going to be standard. You will need to download it from the App store.

And anyway there is no reason for them to include iBooks, the developers have no use for it, GameRoom was something created by apple for developers, iBooks was not. (Even though the game room app is more of a consumer based thing, it was intended to give the developers an idea of what to expect from it).

You should search the Apple developer forums with your developer account to get that answer. Hint: its going to be released in the summer with the final version of the OS. :)

Isn't the iBooks app for the iPad available through the app store and not an app that comes with iPad out of the box? If this is the case, I would assume that iBooks doesn't need OS 4.0 to be released. Instead, they will probably make it available in the app store with a controlled release around the same time as when OS 4.0 is released.
