i think its going to be like when the original and 3G came out when nobody's phone worked, i think the network is going to be crap today depending on where you are of course! and i love how we are all excited about a feature that has been available to all the other phones for years!

Did we really need another damn MMS thread? The collective fail of iPhone users over this is astonishing.

I am in an area with very few AT&T users, so I should be fine. At home, however, I'm sure it will be awful.

I will be willing to bet that the majority of iphone owners are not going to get the carrier update today because most have other things to do rather than waiting for the very moment it is released.

I'm sure cell towers all over the US will burst into flames from all the usage.. LOL .. I kid I kid.

I think the next couple of days will be interesting, but I'm hoping for AT&T's sake, they are uneventful.

The collective fail is by AT&T for taking so long to enable a feature my Sony Ericsson phone had in 2001.

Can I apply the carrier update using an iTunes that isn't where I normally sync my info? (i.e. will it wipe all my info in the process?)

Considering most people are at work when it gets enabled and the fact that many people do not connect it to iTunes everyday, I doubt today will be the worst day as far as traffic. Maybe later this weekend.

Just turn off all of the other syncing. I typically install my updates at work (can't wait until I get home) but do all my syncing at home.

i use a Mac at home to sync, but my work computer uses Windows XP. Can I get the carrier update from my work computer?

Well, I thought that was how I had it setup. When I try to change the settings to not sync apps/music, etc; it prompts me to remove all of them from the phone. So, I guess in order to set this up I have to remove all apps, ringtones and music from here and then resync when I get home?

I turned off the sync buttons and synced and it did not remove what was on the phone (I also checked manually manage music).

I told ya!! Mine was working. I have not gotten the carrier update. Now it's failing. Mine and wife's. I am hoping it's a network traffic issue

Neither of my phones work. I have been on with ATT for over an hour now... something in my account is set to 'off' when it should be to 'on' so no MMS for me. What a bunch of stupid n00bs.
