I realize that it comes down to shotty hardware but one thing that I have noticed is that there are options to take a higher resolution photograph with jailbroken software. For example, sending a photo that I took on my phone and uploading it via twitter or something along those lines, the photograph is extremely compressed. Wondering if there is any way to get around this.

Not that I know of - the max rez is determined by the mPixels and we get 2 which translates to whatever the pictures are at 72 DPI.

Like any camera like this, more light helps and makes better photos - you can always dial down the brightness in an editor.
