Better Music and Podcasts app?

Hey all!

I've grown tired of dealing with the new Music and Podcasts app... I never thought I'd say it but I truly miss iTunes! Browsing music in Music is pitiful - I can only see 8 albums at a time, and the albums no longer open like a drawer which makes just browsing music and selecting music so painful. And don't get me started on how convoluted Podcasts is now, and it no longer stores the podcast media in an easily accessible place. I was so excited to have everything in clean new separate apps in Catalina, but they haven't even begun to fix all the main issues!

Is there a better app for Music and Podcasts? Something where I have more control over the look and feel of browsing my albums? Maybe one that would still let me sync my music to my old iPod classics? I do love that device syncing is handled by Finder now...

I've heard of Retroactive and installing iTunes. How well does this work with Big Sur? Would I still be able to sync my devices through Finder...?

Thank you so much for the advice! I'm usually not the type to be bothered by this kind of stuff, but it's amazing how... counterintuitive these apps are compared to iTunes!

Before I start building it up, will I be able to sync my devices through Finder or will I need to use iTunes?
