Just discovered BetterTouchTool today. This sucker brings tremendous power to the Air trackpad, or any trackpad for the matter. It has over 50 finger gestures and over 50 different actions for navigating your laptop. Using this program with Butler and MenuPop, it will greatly reduce the amount of times I go to the Dock—which is always in hidden mode—and Finder folders. Check it out here: http://blog.boastr.net/?page_id=1619. It’s donationware (totally worth sending money), and it will take a you a little time to get used to. There’s several YouTube videos out on already.

I don't use it extensively, but I like that i can create different gestures for a variety of apps.

I'm using BTT and a magic track pad with my MacPro and am very pleased with the combination. Even in Photoshop and some 3D apps. The track pad becomes much more useful than with just the OS functions. BTW: Does anybody know whether it's possible to assign/simulate a middle mouse button click on the magic track pad?

Yes you can. I assigned a three finger click to do the double click:

I use BTT with my Magic Mouse on my iMac. However, found that it didn't recognize my gestures as well on my 11.6" Air. There was another thread about this a while ago, and I wasn't the only one with the problems.

Are you people that are having success with the Air and BTT using it on the 13" model?

Yeah, i love it.

I have my four finger left/right swipes set to switch spaces left/right, instead of the useless default gestures for four finger swipes built into OS X.

Four finger click in Safari will refresh the page, and three fingers swipe up and down will bring you instantly to the top or bottom of a page(like home and end keys do.)

It really is a powerful tool that makes your trackpad really versatile.

Cool, good to hear others are using this. I think it’s should get 3rd party app of the year or something. It seriously brings missing functionality to Apple’s trackpad. My favorite gesture is a three finger tap to open a link in a new tab. I have custom gestures for many of my most used applications.

Speaking of this, has anyone found a convenient way to apple-click (open in new tab)? I've tried 3-finger tap and TipTap Left, but nothing seems both convenient and consistent.

I use bottom left tap. It's the only tap button I have assigned.

I'll have to try that - I was looking for something I wouldn't do accidentally, but it turns out that going that direction means that I have to really think about what I'm doing in order to do it!

Yeah, at first I thought the same that I might hit it accidentally. However, you have to tap the far bottom left and not just the bottom middle halfass towards the left side.

FYI for chrome I have it set up:
-3 finger click - new tab
-4 finger swipe left or right - switch to different tabs
-4 finger click - close current tab
-1 finger tap at bottom left - open link in new tab.

Hopefully you get some good ideas from this.

I use BTT along with Witch so when I do a 4-finger swipe it brings up the application switcher, works great.
