I have several disk images ie .dmg files on my mac where I keep documents that I need to have secure. They are secured with a password. Now two weeks on on my new 16" on monterey I can't open a certain disk image. Some works and some wont open directly from finder. Instead of password prompt I just get "This disk image is damaged". I tried copying the file from my backup, samt problem.
Not good. I then tried launching disk utility and open from there works.

I'd recommend making a new disk image and copying the files from the old to the new. Then delete the old one that's possibly corrupted.

I have encountered the same issue after transitioning to Monterey (12.0.1), and also was able to access a purportedly damaged disk image via Disk Utility. Upon reviewing the content on the disk image, all appears fine (the content is merely text files with important information).
