Recently bought a $7 new replacement battery from accstation on ebay.
JUNK! nothing but useless junk, takes days to charge, lasts roughly 40-50% of expected usage as stated by Apple. I guess you do get what you pay for, but $7 for a battery that lasts 1hr less than my 7 year old iPod Photo's old battery.
So for those that plan on refreshing their old iPods' batteries, beware of those chinese junk sellers. accstation is one but there are many others on ebay.

Btw. anybody know of a reputable seller whose batteries are actually new and work as advertised ?

If I see another thread starting with 'BEWARE' followed by an idiot showing us why he\she s an idiot I am going to strangle the OP of said thread

of course a cheap battery from china that costs 7$ won't work well! we don't need warning about this. its common sense for crying out loud.

common sense you gotta use it sometimes!

2 thing I never trust on ebay. Batteries and memory cards. Batteries could explode if not manufactured properly, and I've been burned by a fake memory card, that did not work after loading 1 gig onto it.

Of course it is common sense. The point of the post was to solicit an intelligent response pointing me and others to a reliable source. No one is going to pay Apple $99 + shipping for an old iPod battery replacement. 99% of ebay battery sellers/resellers are buying the same crappy batteries from the same source in China and then re-selling it for various price points & shipping charges. There's no point paying $29.95 plus $11 international shipping only to receive the same $7 battery that won't work.

Flaming posters is an all to common occurrence and shows your immaturity.
How about I give you my address and when you come to strangle me I will have the police waiting to arrest you.

You wouldn't actually say this to my face would you ? So why the rudeness here ? Grow up and take an anger management class!

well said sir, i too would like to find a seller because I'm looking to replace my older iPod battery

...

Hey I wish I found this earlier, I also got it from the same seller and after 24 hours of charging it is only at 30% charge. Will other sources be better? I.e. ifixit

I have seen Japanese made iPhone 3gs battery replacements sold on eBay. Perhaps they work properly? I have not tried any myself but would also like to hear from anyone who has had success with cheaper batteries from eBay.
