There is a new thing happening in the criminal world. On Amazon you can buy an RF/Bluetooth detector for $35. That lets the thieves simply walk around parking garages and identify cars that have worthwhile things to steal, laptops that are just suspended, AirTags, other things.

Hiding your devices doesn't help, as if they have time they will break into your car and ransack it. Houston police has a good video on this phenomenon, and USA Today had an article on it a month or so ago.

Beware, do not leave any bluetooth devices in your car.

Would the best thing to do is to shut off your device completely when you have to leave it in your car?

Yes, has been happening for years. I wasn't aware it was bluetooth though, thanks OP. But I have been at a happy hour, they hit like 15 cars in parking lot out of 300, only the cars with laptops.

best thing would be not leave it in car at all, my insurance company especially highlights that if something is stolen from your car during break in, they wont cover that stolen property even with proof

I couldn't find the Houston Police video about bluetooth devices in cars…but I did see three of theirs on YouTube that mentioned that no guns are allowed at the Houston Rodeo.

Sounds like some kind of pinko, liberal rodeo to me! o_O
