Reason for posting this, my black BeatsX (8 months old) suddenly stopped working and wouldn't turn on. Unless I connected the charging cable which it then flashed Red/White sequence until you pulled the cable.

I got a refund and ordered a new pair same day. Connected this new pair and let it charge, then remembered I should check for new firmware for these, (forgot what number something like 7.0.4?), so I let the Beats Updater app do it's thing...

When it was finished and fully charged I disconnect and tried turning it on to add to my iPhone....and nothing! No turning on unless charging!

Now I believe these devices with W1 chips self-update themselves over time through iOS/iPhone which might be why my previous black BeatsX suddenly stopped working, and why the brand new ones also stopped working...

I have also seen like 4 posts saying the same thing about flashing lights on reddit very recently.

Anyone out there with 7.8.6 installed and working? Maybe update and see?

Thanks for any info/advice you can add!

I have a pair of BeatsX that are on 7.8.6 and are a couple of years old and are still working. I have no idea when the firmware was last updated.

Well I'm glad you've not had the issues I've had! I know v7.8.6 is relatively new because I remember installing the Beats Updater a few months ago just to check my BeatsX and Studio 3's and I know the BeatsX were on a different number.

I've no idea what else could cause a pair of X's 9 months old to just quit, then a brand new pair to follow on as soon as I updated them...has to be a software issue surely? Unless I'm just straight up anti-midas!
