And that chin should really be where they put speakers in. if they did that they'd have decent enough sound.

Great point about the speakers..

Big 'ol chin with no logo....and they didn't engineer it to have the speakers actually pointing at the user (as they very much could have done here)

The chin is indeed where the speakers (and logic board) are.

Yeah, but they don't point right at you (which would sound by far the best)

Bouncing the sound off the desk/surface can range from problematic to useless if VESA mounting the iMac.
That would be incredibly ugly (even more so than the pastel colors are). The speakers are more than good enough for the target audience; anyone who needs higher quality is using high quality external speakers.

It looks great on the MBP 16"

I have a 15 inch MBP with the speaker grilles and I do think they look ugly. It’s a compromise, like many things.

The older 13 inch MBP didn’t have speaker grilles on the top case and they looked much cleaner.
