I have a 2010 MBP 15" running Windows 7 x64 with a NVidia GT 330M graphics card and when I first tried to play the beta, it told me I needed the 285.27 drivers. When I did the search for the drivers, I found there was a 285.38 driver available so I downloaded that one instead of the 285.27, only to find it made the gameplay super jumpy and laggy for me to where it is unplayable now. Any advice on what to do? Did I need to uninstall my previous drivers before installing the 285.38 ones? Thanks!

Go to the Control Panel.

Double Click and select Add or Remove Programs.

Select NVIDIA Display Driver from the list. Then, click Add/Remove. Click Uninstall/Change and uninstall it.

Your display driver will be uninstalled. Reboot and install new driver. Reboot again.

I did this but I don't think it helped any. Do you have the same MPB as I do? What settings are you running yours on? Any other ideas as to why my gameplay is so choppy? I appreciate your response!

i am also in the same situation, with a 2010 15" MBP, i7 2.66ghz, 8gb ram, 512mb gt330m

someone in another BF3 thread said they could run it on medium settings, but even at low I am experiencing significant lag and performance issues with the latest drivers

I know how you feel man, it's aggravating! I have the same specs as you except I have 4GB of RAM, but we both should still be able to run it. I've been searching other forums, but I'll post in here if I find any miraculous solution. I know someone mentioned overclocking their card with our MBP to get it to run a little better, but I'll keep it updated.

I do have the same MBP as you, but I don't have Windows installed on it, so I can't test how BF3 runs :(

Ahh, well that's fine. Thank you for your help though! I believe my situation is pretty widespread with other 2010 MBP owners from what I'm finding in multiple threads. I'll just have to hope there is a cure before release time or I'll be returning my pc copy for a 360 copy, which I'd definitely rather not do.

I'm at low on 1280x800 I believe. Overclock settings are 650/925/1430. Runs decently, or at least playable with dips when there are a lot of particle effects. Fires kill my fps. I need to get an iMac or even a PC to play this the way I want it (max res, settings all low, solid 60fps)

I tried it on my 2010 15" i5 MBP, and it had some really bad graphic glitches and it was simply unplayable. Performance wise I could achieve ~30fps on low @1024x768 at outdoor environments...not what I call a good framerate.
Guess I should stick with my PS3 version :/

Do you guys think the 330M issues are something that DICE or NVidia will be able to release via download of a driver or something? Hardware wise I'm told we should be able to run it on low settings just fine, but I still haven't heard of a fix yet.

me too. hoping to get a better nvidia driver so we can play battlefield. have the same specs with you guys with the 8GB ram. :(

Well, I haven't found a complete fix, but for those that want to enjoy the rest of the beta, I had some help as to how to make the gameplay playable. The 285.38 drivers are actually the problem. Since they are beta drivers, they were obviously not completely ready for usage, so I uninstalled those drivers and installed the latest normal drivers for the 330M which I believe are the 280.26. It'll give you an error when you try to join a game saying you need the 285 driver but it'll still let you join the game, and you'll notice much smoother gameplay, on low settings of course. The only downside is inside the tunnels, there is a bit of a delay around flames and when you look down the scope. Hope this helps!
